Cookies are Cakes!!!

Molten Chocolate Cookies

The word cookie comes from the Dutch word 'koekje' which means "little Cake".

It is said that in the 7th Century Royal Bakers from Persia used a little amount of cake batter to test the ovens' temperatures. But they soon realized that these little cakes were also tasty and delicious and decided not to thrown them away.

In Britain cookies are known as biscuits, and were adopted as part of their tea service in the 19th Century.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
The most popular American cookie is the Chocolate Chip cookie. Which was invented by Ruth Wakefield in a tourist lodge called the Toll House Inn, in Michigan, that she and her husband owned. It is said that she ran out of baker's chocolate and used Nestlé's semi-sweet chocolate instead, waiting  for it to melt in the cookie when baked. That did not happened, and  that is why, ever since the 1930s, we enjoy this delightful combination.

Polvorosas
At home, my Mom used to make these awesome Polvorosas cookies. Not healthy at all because its main ingredient is shortening.  But they are still irresistible, specially when they did just came out of the oven.

"Life is short... Eat Dessert First!"

I do not know who I am quoting here, but I do think it is brilliant!

By having a mother who simply loves sweets more than anything, I consider it to be normal to develop a passion for cooking, and in my case, for cooking above all else: SWEETS!!!

Making sweet things is something I discovered I would like to do more than anything,
and that is why I enrolled in the Baking & Pastry program at Le Cordon Bleu in Miramar, Florida.

Therefore, I would wish to make of this blog more of a photo album to share my passion, through images, with all of you.

I would also like to state that some of the pictures were taken a long time ago, and you will probably see some improvement (I hope) in my skills...
